As we wrap up 2021 this week, we wanted to take a moment to look back on our year as a whole and celebrate our achievements. We dealt with many of the same struggles other small businesses faced this year (including staff shortages!) but we persevered and ended with a GREAT year.
At the beginning of 2021 we focused on our company’s mission. We wanted to make clear to our clients what our mission was and we wanted it to reflect who we are as a team. The entire team did some training with Home Staging and Redesign Alliance (HSRA) and together our staff created our Core Values. I think we nailed it to reflect our vision and our personality as a company.
Like many of you in 2021, staffing became a real struggle. We started the year short staffed but throughout the year we have gained several new team members. Marlo joined our team to meet the ever growing demand for home staging consultations. She’s got such a good eye for design, and has been a wonderful addition to the team! Then came Isaac, who helped us throughout the spring and summer months and provided some much-needed muscle (and laughs). We also gained Cindy, who is actually a pilot in her real job, but has joined to help us out on her off weeks. And most recently we have welcomed Michelle, who has jumped in with both feet and is catching on very quickly. Her background as a realtor in Colorado certainly has helped her transition to the creative side quickly.
Another big win for us in 2021 was furnishing our very first Short Term Rental. Otium Cellars in Purcellville, VA has a beautiful home, Grüner Bungalow, located on their property and wanted to convert it to an STR. Referred to us by one of our long-standing clients, we jumped at the opportunity to take on this challenge. We will have an entire blog post in the near future detailing this little (big) project. But for now we will just say it was a lot of hard, detailed work, in which we learned a lot along the way, BUT an awesome opportunity to branch out and create a new service for our business.
Our achievements were a result of clear hard work and dedication among our staff. It truly was a busy year both in real estate and home staging. We saw a market like no other with little inventory and competitive cash offers. Re-designs saw an uptick with many families staying home more and wanting to make changes to their homes to fit their needs a bit more. Here are just a few stats to show you our achievements this past year.
The average number of days on the market for our homes was 10 days!
89 homes staged
395 home and virtual consultations
36 redesigns
2021 Best of Houzz Service Award
And we clearly love to show our sense of humor, so enjoy our rendition of the 12 Months of Staging in 2021 with this fun video….
