2021 Fall Design Trends from high point
Our visits to the High Point Design Market tend to be a fast-paced immersion into both creativity and planning. All the shopping vibes aside, we take into consideration how to incorporate the upcoming trends with the needs of our buyer demographic, the ever changing delivery times and this year, the massive increases not only in product pricing, but the shipping costs to receive them.
That balance results in an influx of new products from our orders that will trickle in from now until April 2022. It’s like spacing out your Christmas presents, one month at a time😊
We observed a few continuing trends, combined with emerging patterns and lines, as displayed below. Let us know which you are the most excited about!
Rattan
Rattan is still holding on strong this year, but not just in chairs and lighting. We are seeing it incorporated into anything from armoires to desks..
Natural Wood Furniture
These amazing wood coffee table bases were a major crush this year, and we will add these to our inventory in the coming months. The best reminder for incorporating a new trend into an existing look is to add it sparingly, so that it won’t be completely outdated in a few years.
Curved Lines
This speaks to chairs, couches and coffee tables, but a recent trend includes the “arch” look we have seen in artwork and accent walls onto more and more furniture. We featured an amazing armoire on a previous Shop the Look home office feature from Anthropologie, but this look has extended to everything from console tables to buffets as well, and we are loving it!
Texture, Texture, Texture
I feel like we could have a trivia game with design terms alone…
For fabrics, Boucle (which is French for “to curl”), Velvet (even in Performance Fabrics), and Raw weaves (with pronounced warp and weft threads) prevail.
For furniture, it’s a depth of pattern and detail, and rugs, it’s a combination of high and low pattern or variegation that creates a rich feel.
So….what’s your favorite?
